Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I register for baton classes?
You can register for baton classes by contacting Coach Cat directly! We accept new students at any time during the year! Please refer to our contact information page for ways to reach out and get started with twirling!
How soon can my twirler start performing?
Your twirler may begin performing as soon as they know their routine and feel ready to perform. Most twirlers begin performing and participating in full team events within 2 months of practicing. A good first performance to participate in is a local parade and there are several during the fall and winter season!
How do I receive updates from the team?
All team parents are added to BAND. It is a FREE app that allows the coaches and the team to communicate via message boards, text messages and more! Each week, Coach Cat sends out a newsletter post on the Band App. You can view our schedule, upcoming payments, roster, photos and RSVP for events! The app is also available on iPhone and Android phones. It is a requirement for at least 1 parent to be active on the BAND App to stay up to date with our team. Coach Cat will send messages periodically if there is an important update or reminder that needs to be addressed prior to class.

What events do you participate in?
Our team participates in events nearly every month! There's always something to look forward to! We compete as a team from January - June and participates in parades, showcases, recitals and more! We are a busy team with lots of fun events to participate in!
Are there fundraising opportunities for the team?
Yes! Fundraising opportunities are available for all twirlers to participate in. I announce all new fundraiser opportunities via the BAND app.
How do I purchase uniform pieces? Can I pay in installments or pay all at once?
Uniform pieces are ordered directly through Coach Cat via check/cash/digital payment. We order items on a monthly basis until all items are ordered. The only time we order items faster than the month-by-month plan is if your twirler plans to perform at an upcoming event that requires certain items be purchased sooner.
If you would like to be put on a payment plan to help break down the cost of the more expensive items, just inform Coach Cat privately and we will send you an email with a plan that will help make the uniform orders manageable. Similarly, if you would prefer to order everything all at once, that's OK too. Just keep in mind that not all of the items will come back at the same time. I place group orders, so items will come back one at a time, but you won't have to keep turning in payments every month. It is up to you what you would like to do. We like to make ordering costume pieces as easy as possible.
Are private lessons available?
Private lessons are available. Please message Coach Cat if your child is interested in obtaining extra help on tricks. Private lesson fees will apply. Soloist private lessons are pre-scheduled at the beginning of each year and are set. Additional lessons for extra help will need to be made around these pre-scheduled lesson times. Thank you for understanding.
What other types of activities compliment my child's twirling training?
If your twirler is considering making baton their primary sport and wants to continue to advance, we highly suggest that your child also enroll in dance (ballet) or gymnastics (with emphasis on stretching & flexibility) classes separately. These classes will help enhance gracefulness, posture, presentation and flexibility that are essential for advancing in the sport.
I don't live in the Ontario area, but I would love for my child to start twirling! How can I find a class?
Contact Coach Cat via the "CONTACT" tab up above, and I would love to help find a twirling team near you!
Is there a future with baton twirling?
Yes!!! Many universities offer feature twirler or twirling team positions to well-qualified twirlers. Scholarships are often granted to twirlers that have years of experience in the sport, especially those with soloist and competition team backgrounds. It takes a lot of practice to get there, but it's an achievable goal if your child begins twirling at a young age and continues to develop their skills over time!
